It's the event of the year for the film, television and digital media industry in Alberta and I missed it. While my tired head hit the pillow in France, some of my greatest friends and colleagues were dressed to impress at the longest running awards ceremony in Canada, the Rosies (aka The Alberta Film & Television Awards).

The event was hosted in Edmonton this year with local improv master Donovan Workun, featured local darlings The Wet Secrets and was produced by the amazing Sue Hutch. There were a whole slue of first time nominees, including my pal Darryl Merpaw for his dark comedy Hybrid Moments. The big winners of the evening were Niobe Thompson, Trevor Anderson, Ron Scott, Blake McWilliam, Michelle Thrush, David Trimble, Adam Scorgie (The Culture High), Nomadic Pictures (Hell on Wheels, Fargo TV Series) and Painkillers by Liberation Pictures won Best Dramatic Feature. Click here for the full list of winners.

The evening's stand out was a promotional video created by Joe Media (Calgary, AB). Keep Rolling Alberta is a perfectly executed monument of all of the hard-working people who have chosen a life in the creative trenches. I share this with you all so you can get a sense of what's happening in your own backyard. Bravo to all the nominees and this year's Rosie Winners. I love being part of this amazing community!
